The Iglesia de Santa Clara is the third of the churches built after the Christian conquest and was built in the second half of the 16th century. It is modelled on the church of San Gabriel, with a single nave, side chapels, choir at the foot and a main chapel under a vault, although the church of Santa Catalina continues under the Gothic mode, the vault is not so majestic and the innovative features found in the church of San Gabriel are absent.

In the 18th century, the tiles on the main altar were replaced with a magnificent Churrigueresque altarpiece that unfortunately disappeared during the Civil War, along with the images and all the ornamentation in the church. Today what we find is a tabernacle similar to that of the Church of the Incarnation. The church was restored after a fire in 1947.
