Museo del Vino Málaga

El Museo del Vino is located in the Palace of Biedmas, an 18th Century building in the historic centre of Malaga. Here history, art and culture coexist among the wines of the province of Malaga. The aim is to promote wines with the ”Malaga”, “Sierras de Málaga“and “Pasas de Málaga” designations of origin.

The museum occupies more than eight hundred m², and houses an exhibition an interpretation area, a permanent training hall, a tasting hall and a shop. On the ground floor there is an exhibition of more than 400 lithographs (Malaga wine bottle labels and posters from the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th century), unique bottles and articles (posters, lithographic stones, raisin cases and promotional materials for Malaga wine-cellars from the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century). It also has an audiovisual and tasting hall.

The first floor houses various exhibition areas: "History”, from the Phoenicians to the present day. “The geography of wine” describes the physical features of the different wine-producing areas (Axarquía, Montes, Northern Area, Serranía de Ronda Mountains and Western Area), with regard to climate, soils and orography. “The vineyard” is the dedicated to the vine, the varieties and their cultivation (grafting, pruning and orientation towards the sun). “From the vineyard to the press” details how must is obtained. “From must to wine” explains the wine-making process, ageing and the types of wine with the ” Malaga” and” Sierras de Málaga” designation of origin. All these sections are supported by original pieces, machinery, reproductions and documents.
