In the heart of Andalusia you'll find the Priego de Córdoba Designation of Origin, where the cultivation of ancient olive trees covers barely 30,000 hectares, all falling within the Sub-Baetic Mountain System Nature Reserve.

These special characteristics, together with unique local climate, enable the production of an olive oil of exceptional quality.

Venta del Barón is an Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced by selecting the best olives of the Hojiblanca and Picuda varieties from each harvest, picked by hand and processed in the traditional manner in accordance with the strict regulations laid down by the Regulatory Council of the Priego de Cordoba Designation of Origin.

Since 1998, Venta del Barón has received over one hundred awards in 14 countries, with a special mention for that granted by the International Olive Council for the best olive oil in the world and the Ministry of Agriculture for the “best Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Spain”

The olives used for producing this oil are picked when they are green but when they just start to change colour slightly. Harvesting is undertaken using a technique reserved for "oleum ex albis ulivis". Then comes the selection process, in which loose leaves are removed, the olives are washed and then checked for quality. The olives for Venta del Barón are cold-pressed, reducing the extraction time, and only the batches with the most intense aroma are selected, in accordance with the strict regulations governing the Priego de Córdoba Designation of Origin. The pressing takes place less than 15 hours after harvesting so as to preserve all the aromas.

Almazara de Muela has a unique and exclusive system that enables the extraction of the oil without the need for heat or water during the process. This is how they are able to maintain each of the attributes of oil. This is complemented with a demanding concern for minimising damage caused by oxidation.

As for packaging, “Venta del Barón” is committed to extracting and bottling the oil on the same premises.
