Between the last week of April and the first week of May, there is a unique version of Easter Week that takes place in the town of Puente Genil.
The highlight is on 3 May, with a children's equivalent of Good Friday.
For a number of decades now, the impact of 3 May has been such that it is now been classified as a Local Public Holiday.
At this time the children repeat and recreate what they saw their parents and other relatives do. They staged and a procession, with numerous reduced-scale floats that are carried and accompanied by both boys and girls.
These are what could be called the "official" floats, but there are another thirty or so bearing crosses, beautifully decorated, with images that in some cases are privately owned and of great artistic value, including Virgins and Mystery Scenes.
These floats are decorated by the children themselves, sometimes with the help of their parents, grandparents and other relations. They create a colourful environment, a spectacle that is repeated year after year, full of candour and singular beauty and on a date when spring shows all its glory with an incredible selection of wild and garden flowers used to decorate these simple floats.
