Throughout the year, Santa Fe hosts various cultural and artistic activities. However, we must highlight in its local calendar the celebration of the Capitulations on the 17th of April, a deeply-rooted event that is held since the establishment of the first democratic government as vindication of the city's Columbus and Americanist character.

The village was founded as a direct result of the conquest of Granada as here it would establish years before the military camp of the Catholic Monarchs in 1491, during the siege of the Alhambra. A journey today through the streets of its historic quarter takes us back to that era when the city was a silent witness of the signing of the Capitulations by the Catholic Monarchs. This ambience is recovered by the village during the San Fermines on the weekend of the Capitulation.

Among its varied and extensive programme are the traditional “Música de los Mundos” open-air concerts, medieval dances, storytellers, parades, exhibitions by renown artists of Instituto de América, classical music series, the medieval market in the historic centre and the unique exhibition of the town's schoolchildren, with the clear goal that children as of Primary Education level will learn of the Capitulation and understand its singularity. A varied programme with all the ingredients necessary to bring together almost 50,000 people over the weekend in the santaferina town.
