Excursión a Itálica desde Sevilla

The excursion to the Roman city of Itálica departs from Seville at about 9.30am. It takes about 15 minutes to arrive in the nearby town of Santiponce, where the Romans founded their first city in the Iberian Peninsula 2,000 years ago.

The official guide will make a brief presentation and then you will begin to discover the secrets of an ancient city that was the birthplace of emperors like Hadrian and Trajan. The tour starts with a stroll along the ancient Roman streets where you will see mosaics, baths and houses, like the house of Neptune and "the House of Birds". These are just some of the wonders that have been splendidly preserved and the tour is full of surprising images.

The renowned Amphitheatre of Itálica is the third largest in the world, with room for 25,000 spectators and the venue for the famous gladiatorial fights.

It is currently one of the prominent settings in the popular Game of Thrones series. Visitors get the opportunity to walk around the Arena and the galleries, on a journey back in time to ancient Rome. You will also see the famous Roman Theatre that was discovered in the mid-20th century. It is one of the best preserved in Europe and it is still in use today for events like the renowned Santiponce International Dance Festival.
