Cortijos Urrá Country Farmhouse

Just three kilometres from the town of Sorbas and in Karst en Yesos, Cortijo Urra Country House Lodge is perfect if you are planning to stay for several days. It has recently been refurbished, maintaining the authenticity of the building and increasing its quality.

With five double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, a large kitchen and dining room included, it sleeps up to ten people who would like to enjoy the peace and beauty of this unspoilt area of eastern Andalusia. The rooms are suites and have spacious bathrooms, each with a unique style. Four are downstairs, allowing easy access.

Cortijo Urra organises weeks packed with activities specially designed for couples or small groups: birdwatching, flower identification, drawing and painting, hiking, photography, stargazing, etc.

Urra stands centrally within the Sorbas Basin, which has received much attention world wide. Despite almost continuous research since the mid sixties by English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish geologists, we are assured that "there are still a lot of doctorates waiting to be picked up" in the basin, some within walking distance of the house. Urra already features in the acknowledgements of many dissertations, doctoral theses and papers in scientific journals. For first degree mapping projects or dissertations in Geography, Geology, Geomorphology, Sedimentology or Environmental Studies, we can provide sufficient diversity for large numbers of students to follow their separate interests. We are still building up our library whic already holds several hundred papers pertinent to study here. It also contains books to help with the identification of plants, reptiles, etc.
