International Festival of Music and Dance "City of Ubeda"

The Festival of Ubeda has gone through several stages to become the great event it is today.

Its beginning (in 1989), a rather parochial, gave way to the participation of renowned chamber groups and orchestras of large format (the Malaga Symphony, the Royal Orchestra of Seville) and it also was incorporated the classic ballet into the programme (National of Cuba, Opera in Kiev).

The following editions include Belcanto stars, where shine singers as Teresa Braganza, Montserrat Caballé, Ainoha Arteta, Renata Scotto, Alfredo Kraus and Jose Carreras.

The Festival is open to new music (jazz, folk, flamenco), and in 1999 entered a stage of refinement, attracting large groups, orchestras and soloists: Spanish National Orchestra, Ensemble Orchestral of Paris, Timisoara Philharmonic, etc.

Currently, the Festival of Úbeda, a collaborative effort between the Town Hall and the Cultural Association "Friends of Music" of Úbeda, offers an extensive program of concerts that is plunging the city into a wonderful musical dream.
