Located in the town of Ubrique, the San Antonio Shrine is considered a unique jewel for ubriqueños, and identity symbol of its historical, social and cultural roots.

It was the year 1485, when Ponce de León conquered the town for Castile, a town that was situated on the slopes of the mountain range, in a place of abundant water. The shrine was located in the heart of the town then, now a Historic-Artistic centre declared of Cultural Interest.

Its interior houses interesting works, like the altarpiece, in Sevillian style (17th century), pseudogothic, with fine mahogany woods and gold leaf. The sacristy leads to another courtyard and a large viewpoint, which is part of the Ubrique Lookout Points. From here can be seen the spectacular views of the town and Sierra.

Worth highlighting is its outstanding clock, acquired by partial payments of the Cordoban shop Pascual de Gregorio y Compañía. As curiosity, worth noting that it is in the same design and style as the Big Ben clock in London.

Church: free admission. Viewpoint: 1€.

From tuesday to saturday from 11 am. to 1 pm. Monday from 7 pm. to 8:30 pm. (mass)
