In June the people from Zahara get ready for one of the most important festivities in the town. Corpus Christi, popularly known as "The Lord's Day", has been celebrated since 1483 and has been declared of Tourist Interest in Andalusia.
The streets where the procession goes are adorned with sedges and palm leaves, banners are hung over the bars on the windows and the balconies and in certain places altars are built with Eucharistic motifs. The Corpus celebration starts off with mass in the Santa María de la Mesa Parish Church, and then there is a Santísimo Sacramento procession that goes round the streets.
The festivity takes place on Sunday and it continues the following day with the Virgen del Rosario procession.
