The name of Fuente Amuña comes from "almunia", which means a country house or small fort from the Moorish period. Located 1 km from Alcaudete, heading towards Las Casillas de Martos, it is a natural spring that irrigated all the vegetable gardens in the area and it has a washing area and a Moorish waterwheel. In Christian times, the mill belonged to the Count of Alcaudete. It was in use until the 1950s.

The existence of this spring and the occupation of the area is documented back to prehistoric times (remains have been found from Iberian and Roman times).

In 1815, there was a lawsuit in relation to the appointment of the role of Water Mayor. This person was responsible for the distribution of water from the Fuente Amuña, and caring for the spring and maintenance of its piping. This lawsuit involved the Duque de Frías, who was also the Count of Alcaudete at the time and had obtained the privilege of the appointment of this role from the king, and the Town Council, which had the support of the Cadiz Courts and named Alonso Adán as Water Mayor.

Finally, the water remained under the control of the Town Council and Municipal Ordinances were drawn up, which were subsequently modified in 1862 and 1879.

Currently, it is an attractive recreation area with parking spaces and picnic and barbecue areas.
