Biography
Antonio Fernández was born in Granada, in December 1971, in the Albaicin quarter, geographically surrounded by such an emblematic quarter for flamenco: Sacromonte. He would listen to flamenco ever since he was a child, as zambras are very popular there, and this would interest him.
This is how he started singing in parties and collaborating with zambra singers, as well as in parties and clubs that hired him individually. He became successful and was soon hired to sing abroad with flamenco dancing accompanying his singing. Thus, he worked in several theatres and clubs in France, Belgium and Japan.
Later on, he took part in flamenco series such as Los Veranos del Corral del Carbón, those at La Platería peña and the 1st Festival Flamenco de las Alpujarras (where other popular flamenco artists took part too: Estrella Morente, Marina Heredia, Paco Cortés, Miguel Ochando and Miguel Angel Cortés, among many others)
The most important flamenco tablao in Barcelon, El Cordobes, hired him for six months to start with, and the management hired him again one year later. Throughout his career, he has also sung for relevant flamenco dancers like Juan Andrés Maya, Mariquilla and Andrés Peña, to name but a few.
