This event takes place every year during the Rocío Pilgrimage. It all began when devout followers of the Virgen del Rocío went on their first pilgrimages. It is currently one of the most important events because most of the brotherhoods pass through this area and there is always a real "Rocío" atmosphere, which offers one of the most beautiful scenes of the popular pilgrimage.
The event has been declared of Andalusian Tourist Interest, and involves crossing the Guadiamar River through a ford, known as the "vado de Quema" ford, because it is situated in the Quema estate.
The passage of the Simpecado carriage is celebrated and people who are new to the pilgrimage are named "romeros".
