Discover one of the most historical cities of Seville through 8 themed routes for all visitors, from gastronomy to history, from legends to horse riding.

A little less than 1 hour away and surrounded by small hills, we come to Écija, the place we travel to today in an article as a city declared a historic-artistic site, home to the "Segunda Giralda", courtyards that will leave you amazed, churches, museums and of course its towers, the most beautiful in Andalusia and a symbol of this city's skyline.

"Discovering Écija" Route

Along this route, we can discover art, history, stories and legends from Écija, accompanied by a guide of the city which will allow us to experience the city and a full vision of it thanks to his/her explanations, curiosities and secrets.

This place you see above is the famous Benamejí Palace, which is visited on this route with several churches and palaces of the city, along with the stables and the new Equestrian Centre, where you can enjoy an audiovisual show of the world of horses on a very original stage.

"Poems" Route

Many squares, streets and corners of Écija inspired numerous literary artists when composing their works so what do you think about taking a tour around these places accompanied by the recitation of the poems inspired by them? It would be great, wouldn't it?

"Medieval, Renaissance and Neo-Classic" Route

This themed route proposes a tour through the traces of different periods preserved in the city since the Roman era to discover the history of this city in the Middle Ages, Renaissance and the Neo-Classic period.

"Palaces" Route

The Palaces Route will take us to the time in which the Astigi nobility began building stately homes as a sign of power. We will start on the route from the Palace of the Marquises of Benamejí, whose façade and courtyards will fascinate you.

Currently, this place houses the Municipal History Museum, where you can enjoy splendid mosaics and sculptures such as the Wounded Amazon and an interesting collection of prehistoric pieces, a unique Tartessian gold piece called the "Plate of Écija” and numerous pieces from the Roman and Moorish eras such as capitals and mosaics.

The route will continue through the palace-homes of the Santaella and the admired Palace of the Marquises of Peñaflor, which will surprise you with its spectacular curved façade, with "the long balcony” full of frescos.

Impressive, right? Well, the route does not end here. You still have to visit the Los Palma Palace, whose interior which is perfectly preserved will allow you to see the decor and furnishings of a palace building from that time.

The city of Écija is famous for its horse herds which have produced some of the best Spanish thoroughbred horses - Moorish and Anglo-Moorish. For this reason, it will not be hard for you to enjoy a beautiful route with some of the best horses and through environment of Écija

With this route, you will be able to discover the aromas and traditional flavours of Écija cuisine with its artistic heritage in a perfect mix.

This experience links art and flavour and will allow us to sample the traditional flavours of Écija while we visit some of the city's most emblematic spots between tapa and tapa, starting with an Écija mollete (biscuit) for breakfast, followed by the sponge cakes of the Moroccan convent to continue with tapas and dishes which will make you see the city in another light, hehe.
