Easter Week in Frigiliana begins its religious celebrations and processions on the Friday before Easter Week itself with the Virgen de los Dolores. For the first time in 1772, the members of this brotherhood wore black tunics and Pharaonic headdresses as they accompanied the image of the Virgin.

The festivities of Palm Sunday begin with the blessing of branches of olive trees and palm trees in San Sebastián Shrine, located next to the cemetery.

On Maundy Thursday, hours before the passage of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, Cristo de la Caña and Virgen de los Dolores, the Last Supper celebration takes place, during which the priest washes the feet of twelve people wearing habits and masks, some of which date back to the 18th century, to represent the apostles.

The most solemn, special day of Easter Week in Frigiliana, and for which it is famous, is Good Friday. After the Stations of the Cross celebration in the streets of the town, at dusk, the parish church is the stage of the death and release of Jesus, which is then followed at night by the procession of Christ Reclining in the Holy Sepulchre.

The tragic sense of passion and death draws thousands of people to the streets of Frigiliana and is evidenced in the Soledad procession, which is an exquisite example of the Baroque spirit that still envelopes Easter Week in Frigiliana and in which only and exclusively women may take part, regardless of their race, conditions, nationality or creed. However, their clothing must adhere to the tradition of strict mourning.

The Resucitado Brotherhood brings Easter Week celebrations to a close on Easter Sunday.
