The Hornos de Segura - La Capellanía Trail – PR-A 148 links the town of Hornos with the village of La Capellanía, unquestionably one of the best conserved of the area, situated at the foot of the limestone walls of the Peña Rubia rock on el Yelmo Chico, in the heart of the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas Natural Park.

Most of the route takes a small lane that borders the Cerro of Hornos hill and climbs up the valley of Aceitunas stream, although for a small section of it we will use a paved road.

As we walk we will enjoy magnificent views of the valley of Cortijos Nuevos, the middle of the Segura mountain, the ravine of the Aceitunas stream, and the Yelmo and Yelmo Chico peaks. On our way we will come across small mountain olive groves and above all forests of pine comprising Aleppo and Corsican pines with a few holm oaks. In the undergrowth, the most common plants are rosemary, thyme and rockrose.

Along the route you will be able to spot mountain goats, deer, foxes and other smaller animals such as and squirrels, rabbits and hares. As for birds, there are griffon vultures, buzzards vultures, crows, thrushes, crows blackbirds and a large number of insectivorous birds.
