The Jerez Archaeological Museum is considered one of the most important museums in the city of Jerez and in the province of Cadiz. It is on Plaza del Mercado street, next to the Riquelme Palace, Rivero art gallery and the San Mateo church.

The collections in the Jerez Archaeological Museum come mainly from the sites catalogued within the area pertaining to the town itself, the second largest in all of Spain, which includes the town centre, the banks of the Guadalete river and several Neolithic, Phoenician and Roman sites.

Amongst other sections, the Jerez Archaeological Museum has a permanent exhibition, a temporary exhibition room, a meeting room, an audiovisual room, a library, an educational and cultural action department, and a research and restoration department.

Pieces from the Jerez Archaeological Museum are displayed in nine rooms, in cultural and chronological order. On the ground floor, we find Palaeolithic and Neolithic remains.

On the first floor, there are collections from the Copper Age (a highlight is the Greek helmet from the 7th century B. C.), from the Roman Visigothic era and the numismatic collection. The second floor is dedicated to the Islamic and the Late Medieval world.
