The holm oak of Los Trébedes, located in the Almeria municipality of Serón, has got a large perimeter, which, at 1.30 m from the ground, is almost 5 m. It is 9 m tall.

Its thick trunk, which has three legs in the form of a traditional trivet that was used to hold pots and pans over the fire, leaving two gaps of almost a metre at the base. The interior of the shaft is completely empty, opening up into two holes at the height of the cross. The owners built a tree pit around the base in order to protect the tree from collapsing.

This tree is interesting for a good reason, as the locals re-enact here a battle between Moors and Christians to celebrate the anniversary of the historical event.

In Loma Alta, where this holm oak stands, you can find Sierra de los Filabres, a vast Aleppo pine forest, with dense vegetation where broom, thyme, oregano and blue fescue abound along with various other types of grass. The area is formed by small hillocks that lead to the Pocico Ravine.

Near Sierra de BazaNature Reserve, as well as the area's historic and ethnographic heritage (Menas de Serón mines), this part of the Almanzora Valley offers an interesting Greenway for you to enjoy in non-motorised vehicles.

This unique botanical specimen is part of an excellent set of unique trees dotted around the Almanzora Valley and its slopes: the hawthorn of Cortijo de las Iglesias, the terebinth of Puente de El Valle, the holm oak of El Marchal de El Abogado, the black poplar of El Marchal de El Abogado, the holm oak of Fuente el Pino, the holm oak of Los Trébedes and the olive tree of Las Lomas.
