El Nacimiento del Hombre Nuevo (The Birth of the New Man), commonly known as Columbus's Egg, is a large sculpture in San Jerónimo Park, in the north of the city of Seville. It is the work of the Russo-Georgian sculptor Zurab Tseretelli, and was donated by Moscow City Council.

It was brought in by ship, in pieces, from Saint Petersburg to Santurce, Bilbao, and then transported from there to Seville in seven articulated lorries plus two special transport lorries, due to the length of its largest pieces.

The whole piece, including the sails of the admiral's ships, is an allegorical representation of the world, which takes the shape of a large egg. Inside, it contains a statue of Christopher Columbus holding an unrolled map in both hands, and on the map are three caravels. It is the largest bronze sculpture in Seville, with a height of 32 metres and a weight of 476 tonnes.

Open area.

The city of Seville pays homage in many places to the famous sailor Christopher Columbus, giving his name to one of the most important streets of the city, which runs alongside the Guadalquivir River, linking the Maestranza with the Torre del Oro; the sculpture by Coullaut Valera in the Murillo Gardens for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929; the statue of Columbus in the Cartuja Monastery; the Tomb in Cathedral, which contains his remains in a gilded lead urn, and lastly, the Biblioteca Colombina library that contains all of the bibliographical legacy of his son Hernando Colón, next to the Cathedral.
