El IE-027.1 Costa de Trafalgar: Vejer - Manzanete links the towns of Vejer de la Frontera and Manzanete by a route that allows one to enjoy the beauty of the nature park La Breña y Marismas del Barbate, offering wonderful views of the marshes.

Its location, landscape and natural diversity make Costa de Trafalgar a singular territory that extends from Cabo de Roche to the coasts of Tarifa.

Route

The route starts in La Barca de Vejer, next to Vejer, and continues along the N-340 towards Tarifa. When arriving at Venta de Manolo, travel down the path that heads right. It leads to a fork where one must follow the dirt track to the right, which runs along the banks of the Barbate River. This area possesses a great variety of birds and landscapes with vegetation typical of riverbanks.

Leave the path along the river heading towards the villages of El Soto and Manzanete, amongst places of great ecological and scenic value like La Herradura and La Cañada de Manzanete: stone pine, cork trees, wild olives, etc., as well as different endemic species. The itinerary continues along an unpaved path until reaching the limits of the nature reserve. Some metres ahead, we arrive at the Manzanete Bajo farmhouse, turn left and, for one kilometre, continue along a narrow, paved road until arriving to Manzanete.

Type of Trail: Linear (two-way). Status of the Trail: Approved and signposted. Total length: 8.2 km. Starting point: Vejer de la Frontera. Finishing point: Manzanete.
