En bici con la familia por la Vía Verde del Aceite
'The olive grove opens and closes like a fan'Federico Garcia Lorca
In 1893, the first trains circulated on this track and one of the main ports of that new railway was the transport of oil in bulk, loaded in tank wagons. Such was the prominence of this means of transport that the railway received the popular name of 'Oil Train', currently inherited by theGreen Track. But the economic history of rail transport was never prosperous. Rail transport was precariously active until 1985. On that date, along with hundreds of kilometres of tracks scattered across the Spanish countryside, it was closed. 15 years later, other types of vehicles now travel the ballast floor, becoming a seat for passengers travelling on the magnificent Vía Verde rail trail.
A beautiful lane that crosses olive and cereal fields, with metal railway viaducts in the style of Eiffel, which you and your family can enjoy safely and with no concerns, simply enjoying the experience. Take a break at the old station ofLuque and have lunch in an old wooden wagon, which will make the experience of travelling on old train track even more real.
The base is an old farmhouse converted into a charming rural hotel **** in the middle of the olive grove, 150 metres from the Vía Verde, at the foot of the Sierra Subbética and 2 km from the town of Zuheros, one of the most picturesque towns in Andalusia. An ideal place to explore the surroundings with children, both by bike and on foot. Cueva de los Murciélagos, the castle of Zuheros and Bailón river are waiting for you!
