With your mind set on a holiday, you dream of going out and being bathed in sun as you explore some of the corners of the Province of Cadiz. Your holiday must include the best of land and sea, as well as exceptional company: your best friend.

Every day, the number of pet-friendly establishments in Andalusia multiplies, while our furry friends start to get used to accompanying their owners on their tourist trips. Tourism with pets is definitely on the rise. For this reason, we'd like to introduce you to some of therestaurants and taverns in the Province of Cadiz that you can visit with your best friend. Let's begin!

A classic: Taberna Bodega La Cigarrera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Next to Plaza de Abastos in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, you will find this legendary tavern, which is comprised of various settings: the typical lounge, its old winery, and the pleasant shade of its courtyard. La Cigarrera is rich in history as its origins date back to 1758. Here, both you and your dog are very welcome. During your visit, we recommend you try the wide range of wines and manzanilla wines from its cellar and enjoy its specialities: fried fish, shellfish and delicious seafood.

At the beach: La Choza de mi Abuelo Lucas, Chipiona

Let's continue our route to Chipiona and its fabulous beaches. On this occasion, we'll stop at Las Tres Piedras. Here, after a walk along white sand, you can access the popular, family-friendly beach bar, La Choza de Mi Abuelo Lucas offering good service. La Choza has a large terrace covered in grass where you can relax alongside your pet and sample its tapas, assorted dishes and paellas, all at very reasonable prices. In summer this establishment opens every day for lunch and dinner. In winter, however, it is open at the weekend only.

Intellectual atmosphere: Café La Clandestina, Cadiz

In Cadiz you can change setting and add an intellectual touch to your gastronomic journey. In its comfortable sofas, La Clandestina offers wonderful coffees, organic drinks, homemade cakes and much more. Here, you can enjoy breakfast or a snack with a good book, or you could buy a gift and relax listening to music. This café/bookshop for friends of animals is rather popular. You and your best friend can participate in cultural events, storytelling sessions, screenings and exhibitions, as well as discover highly interesting alternative literary works.

Italian flavours: Pissería Di Bocca in Bocca, Chiclana

If Italian food is among your weaknesses, you must visit this pizzeria in Chiclana, a place where the staff are proud of their excellent produce and where you are offered quality service thanks to its owners, Francesca and Vittorio, who will welcome you with a smile and a bowl of water and food for your dog. At Di Bocca in Bocca there is no menu: instead, they serve the best of traditional Italian cuisine with full improvisation while respecting the tastes of diners. Fancy a good barbecue? You can prepare one yourself at its facilities.

With views: La Nueva Tajea, Vejer de la Frontera

This route ends in Vejer, a colourful, happy town. A visit to its historic centre and natural surroundings is always a good plan and at La Nueva Tajea, in addition to recreating the beauty of its views, you can enjoy great food thanks to the know-how of its chef, Alberto Azpilaga. Your canine friends are very welcome at this restaurant and, if you arrive before peak times for lunch and dinner, you can let them off their leads to play in the gardens.
