The Senses of Seville

Ocio y Diversión Parques de ocio Jardín Reales Alcazares.jpg

Seville speaks for itself. There are countless reasons to come to the city of light, the scent of orange blossom, the mixing of cultures, flamenco and Easter Week. Its Fairs, fascinating streets and the legacy of its past always invite you to come and discover a different side to Seville.

How about this time we take a sensory trip through the intangible Seville? Prepare your senses for a unique trip around the city, including the 7 most romantic in Europe.

Are you ready?

A stroll through Seville soon began to reveal one of its best secrets: its soul.

The soul of Seville can not be described, but you can feel it as soon as you get there and it's the first sensation you will find.

A horse-drawn carriage ride through María Luisa Park transforms the visit into a world of sensations,

The breeze and the smell of orange blossom will accompany you whilst you enjoy the sensation of getting lost along its countless trails.

The birdsong and the water from numerous springs will put the musical note on this romantic setting,

Inspired by the concept of romantic, passionate and wild love, courtesy of Infanta María Luisa de Borbón in 1893.

If you want to feel charm like in no other place you've ever been, cross the gate of the Reales Alcázares,

refresh yourself in front of the Neptune Fountain and…

stroll through its streets and labyrinths.

Hidden beneath the Palace, you will find the quiet and eternal world of the Baths of Dª María de Padilla.

A visit to the Royal Palace will take you back in time and space, through cultures and continents in the blink of an eye. Attend a nocturnal dramatised visit, where you will discover an even more surprising dimension to this magical place and learn the history of every corner, from the protagonists of one of most incredible love stories…

Talking about the past… do you fancy a trip in a time machine? There's one in Seville and it's called Past View.

With futuristic glasses, you can experience walking through the streets with characters from the past, taking part in the opening of the Giralda de Al-Ándalus

or stroll amongst caravels and anchored fishing boats on the banks of the Guadalquivir.

You can also visit Cathedral and the main monuments in 3D with virtual and increased reality used by local companies such as Sevilla Inside. Past, present and future in a cocktail of sensations.

And talking about sensations… how about a sensory experience amongst wine, water and essence?  Cold and heat expertly come together to spark every pore of your skin in the Arab baths that are discreetly hidden in Aire de Sevilla, located in an old palatial house from the 16th century, built on the foundations of Roman ruins.

There is a hydromassage bath on the roof with views of the cathedral and Giralda, or the spectacular experience of the Wine Bath, where you will receive all the properties of grapes whilst being pampered.

Are you still curious about the next suggestion?

Open your ears and prepare to enjoy the silence.  We suggest a romantic silence, a silence to find yourself, while you discover Seville, which shows its true colours in its silent corners.

Seville is full of nooks where everything seems to be standing still, where you will only hear the echo of your own footsteps while the sun and a nice breeze tickle your skin. If you want to try this new experience, look for the callejón del Agua or stroll along the streets of the Jewish Quarter and the Santa Cruz neighbourhood.

The best place to experience the silence is during the best La Maestranza bullfights or with the very enthusiastic brotherhoods during Easter week.

When sound and passion turn into art, there is flamenco. In Seville, flamenco has its home in a Museum created by the dancer Cristina Hoyos, where sight, taste and hearing are delighted in each show.

In one of the rooms of the museum, you can try the "sound showers”, which are canons of sound aimed at one point, so if two people arestanding next to each other, one can hear the screen but the other can't hear anything. An original suggestion!

Shall we continue?

You will have realised by now that Seville is a city worth visiting time and again. Any time of day is perfect to enjoy perfect views of Seville. If you like sunsets, you can't miss the Seville sunset over the water, where sunshine and the Guadalquivir merge turning into a golden river, a perfect photo op! The roof of a boat or the banks of the Marquis of Contadero promenade are two places to experience it.

The Torre del Oro, the Giralda and the Metropol Parasol viewpoint (also known as las Setas de Sevilla) have no competition whatsoever if you want to see the essence of Seville from up high, and once you get there, the climb will have been well worth it...

After seeing the sun set, why not finish off the evening on one of the capital's rooftops? For all tastes and budgets, there are plenty of options for a romantic evening... Let the breeze caress you as you enjoy the delicious local cuisine. A treat for all 5 senses…

Terraces of hotels such as the EME and the Doña Maria, the Mirador de SevillaAbades Triana...the list is so long that you've plenty to choose from!
