The Province of Almeria has 200 km of beaches that run from East to West. Many are unspoilt and are located in out-of-the-way, wild areas that appear fantastical.

An hospitable town by nature, it stands out due to its commitment to accessible tourism, a sector that has 34 million potential clients in Europe The drive and effort of citizens, administrations and groups, like FAAM (Almeria Federation of People with Disabilities), have earned Almeria an outstanding position in the national ranking. We have identified upto 36 adapted beaches, shared between 12 municipal areas. They all add up and are joined by distinctive national quality rewards, such as the "Q" for Tourist Quality, certification which represents the quality of the Spanish tourism sector, and the Blue Flag, recognising the excellence of water quality, safety, general services and respect for the environment. Relax and immerse yourself in a journey along the accessible beaches of Almeria.

West

Our tour begins with Adra and the urban beaches of Censo, San Nicolás and Sirena Loca. These are located in the area included from the port to the beach promenade and they are highly popular as a result of their excellent facilities. Walkways and access ramps, adapted toilets, support personnel and shaded areas ensure they are a fantastic choice in summer.

We continue along the coast to El Ejido. This town has four beaches suitable for tourists with special mobility needs. They are Balerma (pebble beach); Levante and Poniente (sandy and moderate waves), and San Miguel (comprised of dunes and extremely popular among fans of windsurfing and scuba diving). They are all located in the residential area of Almerimar and they offer extras, such as the option of requesting amphibious chairs.

In Berja, you will find Balanegra Beach, which can be accessed from the promenade. It has many features that catalogue it as an accessible bathing point. For example, reserved parking spaces, a shaded area and adapted showers, among others.

Roquetas de Mar and its coastline is a notable leader in accessible tourism in Spain. The town has six accessible beaches, which have been recognised with the "Q" for Tourist Quality and Blue Flag status: Aguadulce, La Bajadilla, Las Salinas, Playa Serena, the beach in the Roquetas residential area and La Romanilla. The last of these also boasts ISO 9001 certification.

In Almeria itself, you will find El Palmeral, which is a beach with some of the best and most important infrastructure and services for accessible bathing. It is known for the comfort it offers to all kinds of users. But it's not the only one. Almeria has four fully adapted sites. Take note: Costacabana, El Toyo, Retamar and San Miguel de Cabo de Gata.

Cabo de Gata

In a context as sublime as Cabo de Gata - Nijar Natural Park, which is brimming with contrasting landscapes, the beaches of Aguamarga and San José are notable for being places where beauty coexists with quiet waters, offering you the chance to enjoy a family holiday without barriers.

Carboneras is a popular town dominated by its fishing tradition and its festive nature, as hundreds of people visit to enjoy its famous Moors and Christians celebrations every year. Its varied cultural offerings are joined by its beaches: El Ancón, las Marinicas and Los Barquicos-Cocones, all of which are accessible and spectacularly charming as the entranceway to Cabo de Gata Natural Park.

Mojácar is a town of extraordinary beauty. It attracts thousands of tourists from all corners of the country and outside Spain. The options here are varied: Marina de La Torre Beach, with its own golf course, El Descargador Beach, Piedra Villazar, opposite the business park, and Ventanicas - Venta del Bancal Beach.

East Coast

Along the eastern coast of the province, you will find Vera. Its beaches, as well as providing all kinds of infrastructure for adapted services and access, have their own character. Thus, you can choose the urban environment of Puerto Rey, the calm waters of Las Marinas-Bolaga or the naturist spirit of El Playazo, where nudism is permitted.

Luis Siret Beach, in Villaricos, a district of Cuevas del Almanzora, is perhaps the least touristy on this list. Adjoining the mouth of the Almanzora River, it comprises many small, unspoilt coves that can be accessed using a walkway or via its promenade.

The end of this accessible journey lies in Pulpí. The region's most famed beaches are Mar Rabiosa and Mar Serena. The latter is also one of the best-equipped in the province as far as accessibility is concerned.
