Ancient civilizations have marched across the plains of La Campiña in the province of Seville, leaving numerous vestiges of their presence. Olive growing, cereals and the produce of its fertile vegetable gardens provide the raw ingredients for a wide range of gastronomic delights, including the traditionally-made pastries of Estepa in a variety of flavours.

The “Betica-Roman Route”, which begins in ancient Itálica and passes through the lands of the old Via Augusta, is lined with monumental towns and cities with an important artistic heritage; archaeological sites from Roman times in Itálica; beautiful churches, fortresses and castles in Alcalá de Guadaira; minarets and museums in Marchena; and Baroque-style buildings in Carmona, Écija and Osuna… All this makes la Campiña well worth a visit.
