This massive open-cast mine is one of the most iconic parts of the Rio Tinto Mining Park. On the tour you can get close to it and observe the amazing work of thousands of miners who carved out their terraces themselves. In fact, it is the largest open-cast mine in Europe, measuring more than 1 kilometre in diameter. 

Come and discover the amazing heritage that the Riotinto Mining Park has to offer: Mining Museum, House no 21 in the English neighbourhood, Peña del Hierro mine, tourist mine train and, of course, the Corta Atalaya mine. A land with thousands of years of mining history.
